About Rachel

I'm not one to go on and on about myself, but since this is supposed to be about me here goes ;)

I love Jesus, my husband, & our 5 amazing kids...in that order :)

I love attempting to capture the awesomeness of God's creation...like the beauty around me...or the brightness of mist when the sun hits it and everything gets gauzy looking, & the evening light when my kids faces are reflecting the glow of the sun as it goes down. I love when the grass is back lit by the sun and everything just shimmers.

I loved experimenting w/natural light and took as many pics of my kids as they would put up with:) I still have some of my first attempts framed on my dresser. When our last little boy went off to all day kindergarten I felt like it was time to get serious about my interest in photography and began taking classes at a community college and shadowing other photographers (which isn't as creepy as it sounds...I had their permission:). I officially opened my photography business in 2005 and have been staying busy ever since!

In 2012 purchased one of the oldest buildings in Hanna City, IL just 4 miles away from my home & converted it into my very own studio. The first time I walked into this building I fell in love w/it's exposed brick walls & hardwood floors. Many of my newborn sessions & rainy day sessions are done there but I also do sessions on location, or around our home by the lake just outside of Hanna City, where I live with my husband, our 5 kids, 1 dog, 3 cats, 2 turtles, & 1 immortal fish. There is NEVER a dull moment at our house and I am blessed beyond measure!!!

Life is busy, I'll be the first one to tell you...and time is going by so quickly sometimes I'm afraid to blink! So for me it's about capturing moments that we don't ever get back....but we get to look at those images, and remember. When I'm taking a picture, my hope is that your smiles are never forced, that they are a true reflection of the joy in that moment.

I wish you God's blessings,

~Rachel
